What's in your teacher's lounge? (2025)

Our teacher's lounge is pretty plain and dull. There is one old, sort of defunct microwave, an even older refrigerator, a sink, a pay by the cup coffee maker and a soda vending machine. Plus two small tables for the staff to sit at to eat lunch. The state of our faculty room made me wonder what others have. It's not that ours is really bad, it certainly could be worse, it's just not that great. So what is in your teacher's lounge?

We have:
a sofa,a coffee table, 3 dining tables, various chairs, a soda machine, a snack machine, two microwaves and a fridge. Oh and some plants. We used to have 3 microwaves but we found that they would blow the fuse if used at the same time so now there's only 2. We keep lobbying for a cappucino machine for the lounge but so far we've had no luck. What's in your teacher's lounge? (3)

Teacher's lounge? What's that? What's in your teacher's lounge? (4) We don't even have a workroom (machines are in the office with the secretary).

lounge

Our building is pretty new so our lounge is nice. We have a large table, with lots of chairs, three microwaves, a sink, one wall has cupboards, a fridge, a white board a large window and some storage (pantry types)...It is ok

At my last school, they re-did it as a suprise to the teachers...it is awesome...It is done is a diner type theme. There are four round tables (glass tops) and four chairs at each one. On each table is a vase of fresh flowers...they got all new countertops...it is very nice and was much needed!

Similiar but..

a coffee pot, a fridge, a microwave, tables and chairs for eating, a soda mach, a vending machine--we also have our mailboxes, extra text books, paper cutter, laminator, Master/copier, binder, BB paper rolls, pretty much everything that has no place else to go. It is no pretty but we keep it clean and fairly orderly---if not, the principal will sweep through and throw everything out! What's in your teacher's lounge? (7) He's a minimalist.

none here

to speak of. I wasn't going to reply because I thought everyone would be saying they had one! What's in your teacher's lounge? (10) I am in a small, private school that was just built as a community centre. So we use the kitchen as our lounge but it isn't very private. It is very small with a table in the middle. We have a fridge and microwave and take turns eating with the students. We don't really have a work room either, and the photocopier is in the "office". We make it work though! What's in your teacher's lounge? (11)

I think our lounge is pretty nice. We have a couch, 2 chairs, and a coffee table on one side. There are two long tables with chairs for us to eat at. We have a soda machine, a coffee pot, cabinets with nothing in them, a telephone, 2 microwaves, and 2 refridgerators (one donated). It's nice, but it does serve more than 40 teachers so I think it could be cleaner. You've given me an idea. Maybe I'll organize a lounge shower when we get back.

I work at a Catholic school. It's an older building, but it does have a faculty room. There is a small bathroom in it, and a small supply closet. There is a fridge (decent size), cabinets, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee maker. We also have an a/c unit (gift from Parent Guild). There is a buffet (mostly things are just plopped on top of it, or if there are goodies that someone brought in). Then there is a long table and some chairs. Oh, also a small table w/ a phone and chair. It's not much, but it's something! The Parent Guild just re-did it for us a few years ago. The cabinets are new and the counter has a nice top. The table and chairs are nice, too (not that comfy but nice-looking). They also asked the art teacher to paint a nice mural.

I feel lucky now that I know some teachers don't even have a staff room! Where do you go for preps?

We don't have a lounge either. I'm at a Christian School, btw. There was talk that a small room was going to become our lounge. However, I just found out that they've found another use for it. What's in your teacher's lounge? (15) So, we work in our rooms, eat lunch with the kiddos and use the copiers in the office. Fortunately, we're a tight knit group! What's in your teacher's lounge? We have

a sink, microwave, stove, fridge, and the cafeteria juice coller. There is a six foot table and 8 chairs. (Not enough for everyone that needs to eat at one time.)

lounge prep

Preps? Again, what's that? What's in your teacher's lounge? (17) What's in your teacher's lounge? (18) I get in my room half an hour before school starts, and I stay in my room 'til school ends - except when I'm supervising recess or PE. The kids are with me almost all day, and all prepping happens in the classroom or at home after school.

lounge?

Ours is sooooo NASTY I don't even eat in there. I eat with a couple other teachers in the back of our Library. Besides our lounge is the stereotypical lounge with bashing, gosiping, and gripping so I don't set foot in there unless I have no Coke in my fridge and need one REALLY bad !!

Redone

Ours was redecorated last year. It's great. It was the former kindergarten room so its huge. The parent volunteer (Catholic school) who was in charge had a great color sense and made the room both functional and comfortable. You can often find several staff members sitting on the comfy couch and chairs with their shoes off at the end of the day just chatting. Our meeting table was hand built and seats 12. Lots of windows. What's in your teacher's lounge? (23)

One weird thing though...When they were under construction we came in one day to find a whole new set of kitchen cabinets, counters, built in refrig and micro - took up a whole wall - beautiful. The next week we came in on Monday to find the whole set up on the opposite wall!! It seems there was some kind of electrical problem and it was easier to move the whole wall of cabinets than it was to redo electrical stuff What's in your teacher's lounge? (24).

We have 4 tables with chairs around them (most of the staff eat there). 2 microwaves, 2 fridges, a chest freezer, a desk with phone/computer. Cupboards/sink along one wall. A closet for people to store winter coats and stuff for outdoor duty. A water cooler. A bookshelf with a borrowing library of books people have brought in. It's fine - nothing fancy, but it serves the purpose.

no primary or central lounge...

Our older building no longer has a lounge in the main building (used as classroom space!). The two additions to the building each have lounges--ours is small, just a table, fridge, soda machine, microwave, and coffee pot. Worst of all, the staff bathroom on that hall is also in there (no separate entrance). The other building has a larger lounge with counter space, cabinets, sink, fridge, table, etc. Bathroom entrance is NOT in that lounge!

work room

We have a long table and several chairs for lunch or work. There is a full size fridge as well as a small one, 2 microwaves, the copy machine, 2 laminators, die cut and a call out only phone. I think there may be a TV also.

Ours is Awesome

They redid it over the summer. They painted an awesome mural on the wall and put small square tables in there and made it look like a cafe. I am so proud of it. Its amazing what a change can make for morale in the school-even cosmetic. What's in your teacher's lounge? (29)

Lounge

We have a refrigerator, two microwaves, plenty of cupboards, four tables to sit at, a table to put food on for potlucks or books from the book guy, a phone that calls out, a phone for in school, a pop machine, and a sink. We also have a copier and a paper cutter (I just realized that sounds funny to have them in the lounge). We have another copier in a small workroom which is very close to the lounge.

We have an approximately 10 x 10 space w/ two tables and old classroom chairs. It barely holds a lunch shift. There is a microwave and refrigerator. That's it. Some other schools ihave lounges w/leather furniture, plasma tvs, comfy chairs, real tables, etc.

lol, ours is really small and faces the kids lunchroom, so we can always see the kids and they can see us. We have a fridge, a microwave, a sink, two bathrooms (almost the only adult bathrooms on campus- small school), one table, 7 chairs, and that is about it! Ours is clean and decent, just not like my moms was when she was teaching- vending machines, huge table, lots of cushy chairs/couch, etc.
